Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
